Ultimate Frisbee - Men's

Our sport

THE SPORT
Competitive ultimate, unlike recreational frisbee, is a fast-paced, high-intensity sport combining football, basketball, and soccer into one. This ain't no gym class frisbee; we take all the sick, sweet, and awesome components of frisbee, but wrap them up in a competitive sport which allows us to enjoy them all while going all out as we attempt to dominate the shizzle out of our opponents in Machine Ultimate's honored name.  Check out our video tab on the left to see what we mean.

Players who come out to practice should be ready for a fun yet physical, challenging, and structured sport requiring an strong appreciation for the stategy behind it, all of which we will teach from scratch.  Be prepared to do plenty of conditioning and run lots drills during practice, which we mix in with scrimmages as you learn to throw, cut, and run all the different positions which make up our sport, all while keeping the energy and excitement high.

***Rules***

Ultimate is played on a football-sized field with two endzones and 7 players per team on the field at any given time.  Games are played to a point limit (15 points), rather than a time limit.

The point begins with a throw-off (in Ultimate called a "pull").  Once a player on offense catches the disc, they must establish a pivot foot at that spot and cannot break the pivot until they pass off to another teammate.  In other words, no player is allowed to run with the disc.  Possesion of the frisbee changes teams when a throw is blocked, intercepted, or thrown incomplete.  A team scores the point when one of their players catches a pass in the other team's endzone.  Once either team scores, they then throw off to the other team to start the next point.
